Larson Electronics Releases a 33.5 Watt Explosion Proof Ultraviolet LED Light Fixture

Larson Electronics, a company that specializes in industrial grade lighting equipment, has announced the release of a 33.5 watt ultraviolet LED light fixture that is used for food safety inspections, curing paint and adhesives, and for non-destructive testing.

The EPL-48-1L-GSLED-UVA explosion proof ultraviolet LED light fixture from Larson Electronics is a four foot, single lamp explosion proof LED light fixture that emits light in the ultraviolet spectrum. The lamp is protected by a heat and impact resistant Pyrex tube and the fixture is constructed of copper free aluminum alloy. The lamp reflector is corrosion resistant heavy gauge aluminum coated with a high gloss reflective finish. This fixture uses LED light technology that is far better in energy savings than traditional fluorescent bulbs used for the same application. Traditional ultraviolet lights require a coating to block out visible light or a special composition of gases and chemicals used to create a higher concentration of ultraviolet light. This process produces many other wavelengths of light which go unused and end up as wasted energy. LED lights are unique in that they have a narrower wavelength band than traditional ultraviolet sources and therefore do not require these special coatings.

The EPL-48-1L-GSLED-UVA provides operators in hazardous locations with a reliable and durable UV lighting solution that combines effective production of UV light with explosion proof protection and is applicable for leak detection, paint spray booths, ink, coatings, adhesive curing, and germicidal applications, as well as non-destructive testing, and inspections for food manufacturing and sanitation. The fixture can be operated on 120 to 277 volts AC and is wired through a half inch threaded NPT hub. The fixture is typically surface mounted and is supplied with adjustable brackets that are cinched to a peg on each end of the fixture. This unit may also be pendant mounted allowing users to hang the unit from a ceiling and suspend by rigid pipe.

“Not only useful in paint curing, these UV light fixtures are also used in the food processing industry to check for physical defects and other aberrations in food, such as the existence of bugs or other contaminants,” said Rob Bresnahan, CEO of Larson Electronics. “Application of UV light on food not only helps indicate potential defects, it also helps remedy the problem by killing unwanted pathogens and ensuring that each food item meets consumer expectations and quality control.”
