Tension Brakes feature finned rotor design.

March 1, 2004 - Series SA and TA are Straight and Tapered-Bore Brakes that provide thermal dissipation and tension control for unwind brake applications. Air pressure is supplied to increase or decrease brake torque during unwind process of paper, film, foil, or fabric. High temperature O-rings and bearings allow units to run at max thermal capacity. Self-contained SA brakes are fully-assembled and mounted onto unwind shaft. Series TA brakes use standard QD® bushing for mounting.

Nexen Announces New Series of Tension Control Unwind Brakes

(Vadnais Heights, Minn. - February 12, 2004) Nexen Group, Inc., today announced their new advanced series of Straight (SA) & Tapered-Bore (TA) Tension Brakes. These brakes were designed
to provide superior thermal dissipation, consistent torque ratings, and proper tension control for unwind brake applications.

Air pressure is supplied to either increase or decrease brake torque to ensure consistent tension during the unwind process of paper, film, foil, or fabric. The advanced, finned rotor design of these brakes provides optimal cooling, preventing the friction face from overheating, allowing for better performance and longer life.

Maintenance is made easy because the split friction facing pads can be changed without removing or disassembling the brake. This minimizes downtime and lowers maintenance costs. The high temperature o-rings and bearings allow the unit to run at maximum thermal capacity.

The SA brake is a self-contained, fully assembled, and easily mounted onto an unwind shaft because there is no assembling of parts. The TA brake uses a standard QD® bushing for mounting
flexibility onto the shaft. These tension control unwind brakes can be used in corrugating, labeling, slitting, printing, converting and various other web tension control applications.

Nexen is a leading manufacturer of brakes, clutches, servo motor and linear motion brakes, torque limiters, overload protection devices, and web tension control systems for a variety of industrial applications ranging from motion control and robotics to packaging and material handling. With headquarters in Vadnais Heights, Minn., Nexen has more than 40 worldwide sales offices and more than 1,500 worldwide distributor sales outlets.
