Rainbow Mykotronx Provides iKey and NetSwift iGate Instant Private Web to Secure Public Utility Remote Access

AUSTIN, Texas, ENTELEC/IRVINE, Calif., April 1, 2003 Rainbow Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: RNBO), the leading provider of Instant Private Webs (IPW) and security solutions for digital content and Internet transactions, today announced at ENTELEC 2003 that its Rainbow Mykotronx subsidiary will offer the highly successful and award-winning iKey authentication tokens and NetSwift iGate IPW security solution for protection of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) operational networks and distributed control systems.

The Rainbow iKey is the world's best-selling USB authentication key and the NetSwift iGate is an IPW product that combines two-factor authentication with "always-on" security via SSL to create an IPW for utility customers. These products adhere to the North American Energy Reliability Council(NERC) requirement that all remote access within public utilities must have two-factor authentication. NetSwift iGate incorporates Rainbow's widely accepted USB token form factor to provide convenient two-factor authentication plus "always-on" security and system performance enhancement in a solution that is highly secure, deploys quickly and is easy to use.

"User authentication is one of the biggest problems facing the utility marketplace today. The demand for these products are great and the need is critical," said Jim Kopycki, president, Rainbow Mykotronx. "Public utilities typically have between 3,000 and 5,000 dial-up devices with hundreds of employees accessing the utilities' networks. Frequently, all users share a few or even a single password as the only method of authentication, which is inherently weak and doesn't provide the level of security required. With the U.S. government identifying public utilities as key areas of vulnerability to cyberterrorrism, this practice represents a huge security risk."

The iKey and NetSwift iGate offer an unsurpassed combination of two-factor authentication and SSL-based privacy to protect public utility systems and information. Combined with the iGate's resource and user centralized management capability, the iKey and iGate are cost effective and efficient tools to manage the remote access needs of field personnel, control center personnel, corporate users, vendors and business partners. Additional information on the NetSwift iGate can be found at http://www.rainbow.com/netswiftigate/index.html and additional information on the iKey can be found at http://www.rainbow.com/ikey/index.html
