Cincinnati Machine's H5-800 Integrates 5-Sided Processing and 5-Axis Contouring into One Agile HMC Platform

CINCINNATI, OH (September 4, 2002) - Cincinnati Machine's line of H5 Horizontal Machining Centers continues Cincinnati's long tradition of providing quality 5-axis machinery to a variety of metal cutting industries. Available in two sizes, an 800 mm pallet model and a larger 1000 mm pallet model, these machines increase productivity by providing both 5-sided processing and 5-axis contouring capabilities.

The H5-800 machine can be viewed in action at Cincinnati's IMTS 2002 Booth #8101 demonstrating 5-sided and 5-axis machining. Its capabilities can simplify complex part processing and increase throughput by reducing both the number of fixtures and number of setups. The reduction in setups also improves geometric relationships between part features, thus increasing product quality.

Featuring a 180° A-axis tilt spindle sweep - 60° above horizontal and 120° below horizontal - the H5-800 optimizes part access and reduces cycle time on difficult part geometries. The A-axis spindle works simultaneously with the X-Y-Z-B axes to provide five full axes of contouring motion, resulting in unequaled part processing performance.

The H5-800 provides a large work capacity and spacious, fully enclosed machining zone. Standard with X-Y-Z travels of 61.0 x 47.8 x 47.2" (1,550 x 1,215 x 1,200 mm), the machine is capable of machining parts 51.2" (1,300 mm) in diameter and 53.1" (1,350 mm) high.

The machine is equipped with two standard pallets - expandable to an optional seven - to handle workpieces up to 4,847 lb (2,200 kg). The standard square pallet measures 31.5 x 31.5" (800 x 800 mm). Optional 31.5 x 39.4" (800 x 1,000 mm) rectangular pallets are available, resulting in a 25 percent increase in the part mounting surface area.

Designed for high flexibility, the rugged H5-800 is easily adapted to a customer's changing needs and environments and is offered in two versions to better fit a customer's specific application. The H5-800XT version is equipped with a powerful 6,000 rpm, geared spindle with heavy duty V-flange #50 taper. It provides high metal removal rates needed for aggressive, precision machining of aluminum or hard metals, including titanium.

The H5-800AP version is equipped with a motorized spindle utilizing HSK 63A tooling. The 15,000 rpm or the optional 24,000 rpm spindle powers through the most difficult aluminum part geometries. The H5-800AP configuration is the model on display at IMTS 2002.
