Yazaki Names DuPont as 2016 Green Supplier of the Year

Recognized as Overall Best-in-Class and Raw Materials Commodity Category Winner

WILMINGTON, Del., June 23, 2016 - Top automotive supplier Yazaki named DuPont the Green Supplier of the Year at its annual awards ceremony Tuesday, June 7, honoring the company with the Overall Best in Class Award. In addition to the overall award, DuPont also was recognized as an award winner in the raw materials commodity category. DuPont was chosen from Yazaki’s top 84 suppliers in North and Central America.

“Yazaki places a very high value on our strategic partners and suppliers and their shared commitment to the environment,” said Ken Pichla, vice president, strategic purchasing, Yazaki. “Together we can affect significant change for a greener tomorrow.”

DuPont’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, as well as its strong emphasis on safety and health, contributed to Yazaki’s decision to recognize DuPont with both awards. Yazaki completed on-site manufacturing assessments at the Richmond, Virginia, manufacturing site and, after analysis of various programs and practices in place by several DuPont business operating units, selected DuPont as the award recipient. DuPont sets the highest standards for the safe operation of facilities and the protection of the environment, employees, customers and the people of the communities in which they do business. Each year, DuPont publishes an update to their global goals and performance in an annual Sustainability Progress Report.

“DuPont is very proud to achieve this outstanding honor,” said Randy L. Stone, president, DuPont Performance Materials. “This further exemplifies not only our commitment to the environment, but also the high value we place on strengthening our relationship with customers like Yazaki who have an equally strong commitment to sustainability practices.”

Held on June 7, 2016, to honor World Environmental Day, the Yazaki Green Supplier of the Year program recognizes suppliers who have made significant contributions to the preservation of the environment through their manufacturing, production, and delivery processes and have exceeded others in their effort to reduce their impact on the environment. Yazaki established this program in 2007 as the benchmark for all Yazaki companies and affiliates throughout North and Central America.

Aside from automotive products, Yazaki produces equipment that support the efficient use of electricity, gas, solar heat, and other energy sources, as well as environmentally-friendly air-conditioning units and additional products and services aimed at reducing environmental impact to local communities.
