Walnut Shell Blasting Restores Statue of Avery Alexander

The Monumental Task Committee of New Orleans, LA used Walnut Shell Blasting to restore the statue of Civil Rights leader Avery Alexander. Avery Alexander, whose statue is called "The Crusader," served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1976-1999, and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

As the following video highlights (YouTube Video Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WpNLDkdWXU ), Walnut Shell blasting cleaned the statue's bronze surface, which was then coated with hot wax according to National Park Service standards. Once restored, the statue was installed at the University Medical Center in New Orleans in March, 2015.
