Transit Authority Orders Larson Spring Tester
MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. - A large, nationally known rail transit authority has ordered a FLASH 36 spring tester from Larson Systems Inc. Fabrication is underway at Larson's plant in Minneapolis.
The tester, when built, will contain a 10,000-lb. load cell and be able to test springs up to 35,000 lbs. of force. The tester will be used for testing passenger car springs.
The FLASH 36 has been on the market since 1989. This new model has several new safety features: An auto-loading mechanism relieves tester operators from lifting heavy springs into the tester and reduces back strain. A polycarbonate safety shield is backed by a steel mesh guard and a center locating rod prevents springs that break during testing from bursting out of the tester and striking and injuring a person.
Larson Systems is the leading manufacturer of spring testing equipment in North America. The company recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
