Tom Johns Joins EDI as Product Manager for Liberty® Range of Slot Die Coating Systems

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI, U.S.A., May 8: Tom Johns, a longtime design and application engineer for Liberty Coating Equipment, has joined Extrusion Dies Industries, LLC (EDI) as product manager for the Liberty® range of slot die coating systems. EDI is marketing this product line under the Liberty tradename after purchasing Liberty Coating Equipment in March.

Johns will oversee the design and building of Liberty die systems and provide installation and technical support to customers worldwide. In addition, he will coordinate field trials using WetWare(TM), a modular system combining die, positioner, pump, and ancillary components that can be shipped to a customer or prospect for on-site demonstration of slot die coating on actual production lines.

"Tom brings nearly thirty years of experience in the design and construction of industrial machines and tooling and was instrumental in the development of Liberty Coating Equipment's unique WetWare system for demonstrating the advantages of slot die over other coating processes," said Mark D. Miller, EDI's manager in charge of Liberty accounts.

Tom Johns joined Liberty in 1997 and personally built, assembled, and installed dies and worked with customers on startup support and technical service. In 2000 he became involved in the engineering of Liberty die systems and the development of WetWare. Prior to working for Liberty, Johns was employed for nineteen years as a tool and die maker serving many industries.
