The MAUSER Group Expands to Brazil
Acquisition move to enter Latin American market
The MAUSER Group, one of the world's leading companies in industrial packaging, continues its growth strategy by extending its reach to Latin America. On October 30, 2006, MAUSER completed the acquisition of the industrial packaging business of the Brazilian market leader Metalúrgica Barra do Pirai S.A..
Metalurgica Barra do Pirai S.A. (MBP) is Brazil's leading manufacturer of rigid industrial packaging with a strong number one position in IBC, plastic drums and steel drums. The company operates five plants in Brazil; its head office is located in Barra do Pirai, close to Rio de Janeiro. MBP's customers are among the major players in the chemical, lubricant and food industries. With a staff of approximately 1000 employees, the industrial packaging business of MBP represents a turnover of roughly USD 100m.
MBP has been a MAUSER licensee for 34 years, producing high quality plastic packaging using state-of the art technology. As a long-standing member of MIPI, MAUSER's global marketing network for leading producers of industrial packaging, MBP offers highest quality standards for demanding packaging applications.

The MAUSER Group currently employs a staff of about 2.500 in nearly 50 worldwide locations and achieved a turnover of 784 million Euros in 2005 (pro-forma for all acquisitions until the end of 2005, but before the acquisition of MBP´s packaging business).
