Supply Management Professionals Have More Time to Reward the Industry's Future Leaders

By Popular Demand, ThomasNet and ISM Extend “30 Under 30” Deadline to October 30, 2015

New York, NY and Tempe, AZ — Supply management professionals: Help ensure the vitality of your industry by rewarding and re-energizing its future leaders. Today, ThomasNet® and the Institute for Supply Management® (ISM) are making it easier to do just that. By popular demand, the organizations are extending the deadline for their second 30 Under 30 Rising Supply Chain Stars Recognition Program to October 30, 2015.

ThomasNet and ISM launched this initiative to help the industry build a pipeline of new young talent. This is becoming critical as Baby Boomers begin retiring, leaving open positions with no-one trained to fill them.  According to research from consulting firm Deloitte, the demand for these professionals might soon exceed supply by a ratio of six to one.

ThomasNet and ISM hope that by showcasing exceptional young supply management professionals, they will inspire other Millennials to fill this widening gap. They will recognize 30 individuals who are 30 or younger, and who demonstrate outstanding initiative, collaboration, innovation and/or leadership.

One example is Katy Conrad Maynor, Category Manager, Finished Lubricants/B2B, Shell Oil—last year’s “Megawatt star”. Katy loves everything about her job—working with smart engineering and business professionals, solving tough problems, and making a bottom-line impact. At Shell, she has delivered significant savings, built a regional B2B sourcing strategy, and held an exciting overseas assignment. To engage other Millennials, she also helped create the Emerging Professionals Group (EPG) for the ISM-Houston affiliate.

To nominate someone for the 2016 awards, go to: www.thomasnet.com/30under30. Self- nominations are also encouraged. All winners will receive a free one-year ISM membership. In addition, one "megawatt" star, along with their nominator, will receive an all-expense paid trip to ISM’s 2016 conference, to be held May 16-18 in Indianapolis.
