September 5, 2012 - Scheduled for Sept 18 in Boxborough, MA, Northeast Regional Solder Skills Competition will pit expert technicians against each other to build functional electronics assembly within 30-min time limit. Judges will evaluate soldering assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610E Class 3 criteria, cleanliness, and technique. Cash prizes will be awarded to top 3 finalists, and first place winner will earn complimentary airfare, hotel stay, and entrance into international grand championship at IPC APEX EXPO®.

The Heat Will Be On at Inaugural Northeast Regional Solder

Cash prizes of $500, $250 and $100 will be awarded to the top three finalists. In addition, the first place winner will earn complimentary airfare, hotel stay and entrance into the international grand championship held at IPC APEX EXPO® on February 21, 2013, in San Diego.
"If you make your living with a soldering iron, then this competition is for you," says Kris Roberson, IPC manager of assembly technology, and one of the coordinators of the competition. He adds, "There's a lot of talent within our industry and the hand soldering competition is a great way to showcase soldering skills."
