Schedule includes Mechanical Seals - Types and Operating Principles on March 29, Mechanical Seals Construction and Design on April 12, Mechanical Seals - Installation, Connections - Commissioning on April 26, and Mechanical Seals - Seal Environment and Failure Analysis on May 11. All webinars will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 pm EDT.

Hydraulic Institute Announces 2012 Mechanical Seals Webinar Series



Parsippany, NJ - The Hydraulic Institute (HI), in collaboration with the Fluid Sealing Association (FSA), has announced the kick-off of the 2012 Mechanical Seals Webinar Series. The series will begin on Thursday, March 29, 2012. A free supplemental webinar on sealing systems energy efficiency will be held on March 15, 2012.

Participants will be led by and have access to industry-leading experts in a non-commercial educational forum. HI technical webinar participants can receive up to four professional development hours. PDH credits are offered after completion of each live webinar.

The following is a schedule for the 2012 Mechanical Seals Webinar Series:
Section 1: Thursday, March 29, 1:00-2:00 EDT - Mechanical Seals - Types and Operating Principles
Presenter: Eric Vanhie, EagleBurgmann
Section 1 explains how a mechanical seal works and gives an overview of the most common seal types. The objectives are to give the student a good understanding of how leakage, friction and wear of the materials interact and why many different seal types are used in pumps, agitators and compressors.

Section 2: Thursday, April 12, 1:00-2:00pm EDT - Mechanical Seals Construction and Design.
Presenter: Mike Huebner, Flowserve

Section 2 will cover different design features used in common seals. This section will explain the strengths and weaknesses of various design options and impact of design features on seal performance. Mike will discuss seal faces, springs, seal glands, and much more.

Section 3: Thursday, April 26, 1:00-2:00pm EDT - Mechanical Seals - Installation, Connections - Commissioning
Presenter: Eric Boyce, John Crane

Section 3 will cover mechanical seals used in rotary equipment, basic preparation and standards as well as support system piping plans promoting longer seal life and more.

Section 4: Friday, May 11, 1:00-2:00pm EDT - Mechanical Seals - Seal Environment and Failure Analysis.
Presenter: Henri Azibert, A.W. Chesterton Company

Section 4 covers how to improve material selection, installation and operating procedures, environmental controls, seal design and much more.
