People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The American Dental Association (ADA), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has recently named Dr. Kathleen T. O'Loughlin executive director / chief operating officer effective June 1.
Bringing thirty years of experience of private practice, education, research, and management in the dental profession, she will carry out the leadership's vision for the association, and foster its role of leading advocate for oral health.

Prior to joining ADA, Dr. O'Loughlin worked for United Healthcare as its chief dental officer. Formerly the president and chief executive officer of Dental Services of Massachusetts Inc., she also served as the president of the Oral Health Foundation of Massachusetts (now called DentaQuest Foundation).

An assistant clinical professor in the Department of General Dentistry of Tufts University, Dr. O'Loughlin is also a member of its Board of Trustees.

After earning a BS in biology from Boston University, she received her dental degree from Tufts in 1981, and a master's degree in public health and health care management from Harvard University School of Public Health in 1998.
