Paper at Adhesion Society Meeting to Address UV-Curable Adhesives Manufacturing Challenges

BRIDGEWATER, NJ, January 15, 2007 - Dr. Graeme A. Roan of National Adhesives, a business unit of National Starch and Chemical Company, will present a technical paper on UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesives for industrial tape applications at the Annual Meeting of The Adhesion Society in Tampa, Florida, on February 20.

Dr. Roan, Senior Associate at National Adhesives, is the lead author of the paper, which addresses the significant challenges involved in understanding and controlling the light absorbance values of film substrates used in producing UV-curable pressure sensitive adhesives.

Prior to joining National Starch in 2000, Dr. Roan worked in the acrylics business in both the U.K. and the U.S. Since then, he has been involved in the pressure sensitive adhesives business in a range of technology platforms, including 100-percent solids UV-curable materials. He also manages programs and develops acrylic and rubber-acrylic hybrid polymers and adhesives for solvent-based systems. Dr. Roan received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Strathclyde and his Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham.
