Northwest EMC Goes Wireless for a New Video Series Featuring Director of Engineering, Greg Kiemel

Whether you’re just getting started in the wireless device market or need to keep up with the most recent trends in wireless device testing, a new video series from EMC testing agency Northwest EMC can help.

Wireless is quickly becoming standard across a wide range of industries, from our Smartphone devices to wearable medical devices. As the costs of these wireless technologies go down and adoption increases, many companies are looking to add wireless features to existing products.

In the first two installments of the just released series, Northwest EMC Director of Engineering Greg Kiemel discusses some of the many wireless trends shaping our markets today. Regulatory Approval trends, new wireless data standards, and breakthroughs in new technologies are all converging into exciting new possibilities. But with these new possibilities come additional requirements to ensure products function safely.

The series then swings past EMC compliance to discuss some of the additional compliance needed to bring products to market, in particular new regulations from the FCC for RF exposure conditions and Specific Absorption Rate (don’t forget to check out the cool gel dummy while you’re watching!). These regulations are particularly relevant for products like cell phones and devices that operate closer than 20 cm to the head or torso.

Other installments offer helpful information about regulations and standards, both in the U.S. and Europe, as well as wireless specific to the medical industry. Learn more about risks for wireless medical device product design and new ways to address these risks.

Each video in the new series runs approximately ten minutes, offering all the latest on the trends in wireless device product compliance in an easy-to-digest format.
