Mark D. Miller Is Appointed New Products Group Manager at EDI

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI, U.S.A., February 14, 2008: Extrusion Dies Industries, LLC (EDI) has promoted Mark D. Miller to the new position of manager of the company's New Products Group.

He will direct a team charged with developing new products and services that will provide additional value for customers and complement EDI's expertise in building feedblocks and dies for extrusion processing and web converting.

Miller will report to EDI president and CEO Timothy C. Callahan. "A central concept of our strategic plan for EDI is the continuous development of new products which help our customers compete in the global market place and are based on technologies that we are uniquely qualified to implement and bring to market," said Callahan. "Mark's professional background in polymer science and process engineering makes him well qualified to combine a processor's perspective with EDI's engineering strength to provide creative solutions to the various markets we serve."

Among recently established programs that Miller will oversee are the Process Lab Services operation, including cast film, extrusion coating, and slot die coating lab lines that companies can rent for trial runs and product development; the Liberty Dies group, focused on precision slot-die and patch-coating, fluid-delivery, and modular coating systems; EDI "layer-multiplier" technology and applications thereof; environmentally friendly foam board die technologies; and other emerging technologies such as bioplastics applications and co-extrusion blowmolding die heads.

Mark Miller joined EDI in 2006 as a project and manufacturing engineer responsible for developing new die manufacturing processes, designing innovative die systems, and providing technical support to customers. Previously he worked for nine years at 3M Company, where his responsibilities included R&D on applications involving slot and extrusion coating dies, development of polymeric adhesive formulations for coating systems, and production of optical films for a wide range of electronic devices.

Miller holds a Masters degree in polymer science and engineering from Lehigh University and a Bachelors degree in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
