Malvern Unveils New Web Resources for Cement Industry to Coincide with Cement Solutions Web Seminar on 31 March 2010

25 March 2010: Malvern, UK: On Wednesday 31 March 2010, Malvern Instruments will present a web seminar covering 'The Malvern Cement Solution'. This will consider how the technique of laser diffraction particle size analysis can provide a means of increasing cement process efficiency and product quality or strength. Starting with lab-based measurements the presenters will show how the technique provides a modern means of predicting strength with higher precision than traditional surface area measurements permit. They will look at its application within automated laboratories and on-line for the implementation of fully automated closed-loop control, evaluating the energy and cost savings that can result. Participation in the web seminar is open to all at no charge. To register please visit www.malvernevents.com

At the same time a completely new version of the cement industry section of the Malvern website will go live. Not only will this re-organised and highly focused area provide technical and product information across the full range of Malvern's cement industry solutions, it will also house background information for the industry, provide access to examples of Malvern installations and experiences, and enable the free downloading of case studies.

Malvern's analytical solutions for cement range from the Mastersizer 2000, a versatile, easy-to-use reference laboratory solution through to Insitec technology for real-time, continuous plant monitoring. The newest addition to this portfolio, the Insitec Cement LabSizer, meets the increasing demand for solutions that integrate within an automated lab, delivering rapid and fully automated particle size measurement for samples up to 150g. All Malvern systems for cement are designed to meet the practicalities of dealing with this abrasive material; results reporting are tailored to industry norms. Insitec has an established in-process reliability record and a history of delivering economic gains that offset initial CAPEX in under a year.

About Malvern Instruments

Malvern Instruments provides a range of complementary materials characterization tools that deliver inter-related measurements reflecting the complexities of particulates and disperse systems, nanomaterials and macromolecules. Analytical instruments from Malvern are used in the characterization of a wide variety of materials, from industrial bulk powders to nanomaterials and delicate macromolecules. A broad portfolio of innovative technologies is combined with intelligent, user-friendly software. These systems deliver industrially relevant data enabling our customers to make the connection between micro (such as particle size) and macro (bulk) material properties (rheology) and chemical composition (chemical imaging).

Particle size, particle shape, zeta potential, molecular weight, chemical composition and rheological properties measurements are now joined by advanced chromatography solutions (GPC/SEC), extending Malvern's technologies for protein molecular weight, size and aggregation measurements, and synthetic polymer molecular weight and distribution. The company's laboratory, at-line, on-line and in-line solutions are proven in sectors as diverse as cement production and pharmaceutical drug discovery.

Headquartered in Malvern, UK, Malvern Instruments has subsidiary organizations in all major European markets, North America, China, Korea and Japan, a joint venture in India, a global distributor network and applications laboratories around the world. www.malvern.com
