New International Poll Highlights Public Support for Civil Unmanned Aircraft



Paris – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) will host a panel discussion on Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in the AIA Chalet at the Paris Airshow, Wednesday June 19 at 11:00am.  The panel will present preliminary findings from an international poll conducted by the Christian Science Monitor.  The poll, which for the first time tested public perceptions of non-military use of UAS, comes at a time when government agencies worldwide are considering the issues of privacy, exporting UAS technology and integrating unmanned aircraft into existing air traffic control systems.  Final results will be tabulated and released at a later event in July.



The panel will be open to the public and will feature Dr. John S. Langford, Chairman and CEO of Aurora Flight Sciences; Frank W. Pace, President, Aircraft Systems Group, General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc.; and Marion C. Blakey, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association.  The panel will discuss current and potential uses of UAS, including growth opportunities in the commercial sector.
