H.B. Fuller Adds Proven, High Performance Formulations to Flexible Packaging Adhesive Portfolio

Acquisition of German-based Nordic Adhesives Technology gives H.B. Fuller a full menu of advanced flex-pack adhesives: solventless, waterbased, solvent and hot melt heat seal coatings.

ST. PAUL, Minn., April 6, 2009 -- H.B. Fuller Company (NYSE: FUL) now has all the flexible packaging adhesive bases covered from general purpose to high performance solventless, waterbased, solvent and hot melt heat seal formulations resulting from its acquisition of Nordic Adhesives Technology. The acquisition of Nordic, a developer and manufacturer of high quality polyurethane flexible packaging laminating adhesives based in Buxtehude, Germany, rounds out H.B. Fuller's portfolio of hot melt heat seal, cohesives, solventless laminating and waterbased adhesives for the growing flexible packaging market worldwide. As flexible packaging converters continue to seek adhesives to help reduce packaging materials, contain shipping costs and address environmental concerns, H.B. Fuller's enhanced portfolio and expertise in complex performance applications will help converters better address the market's evolving needs.

"We have been strategically committed to developing innovative flexible packaging adhesives for nearly 20 years. With our technically advanced solventless and waterbased adhesives, we help our customers achieve unprecedented throughput and the specific bond strength and heat, humidity and chemical resistance needed for their application," said Brendon Kryzer, Global Director of Flexible Packaging for H.B. Fuller. "With the Nordic acquisition, we are significantly expanding our flexible packaging technology and experience."

Nordic's laminating adhesives complement H.B. Fuller's existing line. Additional new and innovative Nordic formulations include solventless systems with wide ranging capabilities including biodegradable laminates, high performance aliphatic solvent based systems, and adhesive solutions for high barrier films.

Nordic Adhesives Technology was founded in 2003 by Manfred Römer and Leif Porsberg. Combined, they have more than 70 years of experience formulating break-through technology and troubleshooting flexible packaging operations worldwide. Combining this experience with H.B. Fuller's global presence and technical knowledge will bring tremendous value to H.B. Fuller customers.
