Senate Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Champion: "Don't Give Away American Jobs and Clean Technology Leadership to Foreign Competition"

WASHINGTON DC - Former Senator Byron Dorgan says fuel cells and hydrogen are crucial to any clean energy policy and to reducing American dependence on foreign sources of energy today and in the future.

Sen. Dorgan will speak at the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy 2011 Conference in the Washington DC area on Monday, Feb. 14. There, he will outline the first steps in the upcoming battle to ensure that fuel cells and hydrogen energy receive the needed attention and funding to continue bringing these crucial technologies to the full scale commercialization - and secure their place as integral components of the clean energy future.

On the same day that Secretary Chu is expected to announce the President's 2012 Department of Energy budget, Sen. Dorgan will rejoin the fight for American clean energy leadership and economic growth by speaking to the critical importance of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies in transforming the energy network.

Sen. Dorgan has long been a champion for fuel cells and hydrogen energy, and in 2009, he was instrumental in defending the successful Fuel Cell Technology Program at the Department of Energy from massive and ill-considered cuts.

Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy 2011 will be held from Feb. 13-16 at the Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD. More information on the conference can be found at www.fuelcellandhydrogenenergy.org
