Elliot Scientific Introduces Two New Life Science Products

Harpenden, UK - Elliot Scientific continues to add to their life science range by introducing two new products from Mad City Labs for researchers in the UK and Ireland.

Cyto-Lite(TM): Multi-wavelength Laser Engine

Cyto-Lite(TM) is an exciting new illumination source that outputs blue, green and red laser light through a single fibre. The key wavelengths being 405, 532 and 640 nm. Cyto-Lite(TM) provides complete control over each laser line via a single USB interface and the supplied Cyto-Lite(TM) software.

The Cyto-Lite(TM) controller and software streamlines the user interface and allows the characteristics of each laser line to be independently controlled in constant current feedback or constant optical power feedback modes. The on-board DDS sine wave generator and internal 16-bit DAC allow for the modulation and amplitude of each laser line waveform. Low noise operation is achieved by three independent linear regulator power supplies, and filtering on each laser line further minimises electronic noise.

Robust and safe operation is achieved through multiple layers of laser line protection. Watchdog circuitry maintains stable power supply operation and each laser line has overcurrent protection circuitry. In the event of a fault condition, the laser line is shut down until the fault is corrected. In addition, ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection circuitry is in place for each laser line to prevent static discharge damage.

RM21(TM): Microscope Platform for the Future

RM21(TM) is a precision aligned microscope platform designed for maximum user accessibility. This feature offers microscopists the opportunity to develop flexible configuration instruments with ease. It is precision manufactured to allow easy alignment of microscopy and optical components within its three dimensional space. In addition, all posts and fixturing points are referenced to a known datum. With a robust design, precision manufacturing and assembly, the RM21(TM) is the ideal platform for a range of microscopy applications such as super resolution (SR) microscopy, fluorescence microscopy and TIRF.

The RM21(TM) includes a precision platform and an axial, motorised Z-axis suitable for lens positioning. The Z-axis has a displacement of 50 mm (2") with a 95 nm step size and 50 nm repeatability. An encoder option is also available.

The ease of integration with Mad City Labs nanopositioning and microspositioning systems and Elliot Scientific fixtures and fittings provides the researcher with a flexible microscopy platform with high precision performance for the most demanding microscopy techniques.
