Dow Corning Offers Free Technical WebSeminar: "Improved Filler Dispersion for Enhanced Performance of Plastic and Rubber"

MIDLAND, MICHIGAN, USA - Dow Corning Corporation's Materials Reinforcement Technical Service Representatives Manfred Gloeggler and Scott E. Miller will present a free, 90-minute technical WebSeminar on "Improved Filler Dispersion for Enhanced Performance of Plastic and Rubber" this June.

The online seminar, hosted by SpecialChem.com, will focus on methods to improve filler dispersion with an emphasis on the dispersion mechanism, the fundamentals of silane chemistry and filler treatment, and the material compatibility and processing benefits that can be obtained with silane and siloxane treatment of fillers.

The seminar will also introduce the properties and benefits of a new-generation, cost-reducing dispersion aid based on siloxane technology. Gloeggler said, "This new aid, which has traditional alkoxysilane functionality, delivers improved filler dispersion in organic rubbers and plastics. Acting both as a compatibilizer and a hydrophobe, it is low cost, easy to use, and has low VOC."

Silanes are widely used as coupling agents and adhesion promoters, as well as dispersing aids for fillers. The presentation will share relevant information that demonstrates the performance enhancements possible and the costs savings realized by formulating with silane- and siloxane-treated fillers.

This WebSeminar is designed for compounders, masterbatch, and filler producers who want to reduce costs, improve dispersion efficiency, and increase productivity. Two sessions will be offered. The first, presented by Gloeggler, is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20, with convenient times for attendees in Asia and Europe. The second, presented by Miller, will take place Wednesday, June 27, with convenient times for attendees in the USA and Europe.
