Two Weeks to Go: Deadline for "30 Under 30 Rising Supply Chain Stars" Program Almost Here

ThomasNet.com and ISM to Celebrate 30 Outstanding Millennials Making a Difference in Supply Management

New York, NY and Tempe, AZ – Attention, supply management professionals: There is still time to publicly recognize your youngest achievers for their outstanding work. ThomasNet® and Institute for Supply Management® continue to invite nominations for their second annual “30 Under 30 Rising Supply Chain Stars” Recognition Program. But nominators must move fast: The deadline for online submissions is October 30, 2015, just two weeks away.

By honoring outstanding professionals who are 30 and younger, ThomasNet and ISM want to reach other Millennials who would thrive in supply management. This is especially urgent as the Baby Boomers who “dominate” the industry retire and leave more jobs than people to fill them. The organizations hope that the honorees will serve as role models and inspire other Millennials to build supply management careers.

Part of the challenge is showing this generation how exciting the profession has become. For example, Wesley (Wes) Whitney, Sourcing Specialist, Enterprise Products, Houston and one of the first “Rising Stars”, never pictured himself in his current role. “When I was a child, my grandmother held a supply management job and it was the opposite of what I wanted to do. Fast forward to adulthood, when a friend of mine entered the industry, and I realized how impactful it has become. I love being able to affect my company’s performance, and I want to make supply management my lifetime career,” he said.

The ThomasNet/ISM program rewards individuals like Wes Whitney who are making a difference through their innovation, leadership, initiative and/or collaboration. Anyone in the private or public sector who will be 30 or younger by December 31, 2015 is eligible.

Each of the 30 winners will be rewarded with a free one-year membership in ISM. The “megawatt star” among them, and their nominator, will receive an all-expense-paid trip to ISM’s 2016 annual conference, May 16-18 in Indianapolis.
