Attendio Unveils Social Event Service at DEMO 07

Celebrity Event 'Recommenders' Include Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows, the Editors of Bay Area Parent Magazine and Pro-Bowl Center for the San Francisco 49ers, Jeremy Newberry

PALM DESERT, Calif., Jan. 30 -- Attendio (attendio.com ), the social events service that automatically connects people to local events that match their interests, today unveiled their online and mobile service at the influential DEMO conference in Palm Desert. The free Attendio service (beta version) launches online to the public on February 1st, beginning with event content for the San Francisco Bay Area and rolling out to additional cities across the country throughout 2007. Coordinated with the launch of Vista(TM), Attendio is also featured in the new Windows Calendar (Vista(TM)).

Attendio keeps people "in the know" about the local events that match their interests. Attendio and its user community continually add relevant local events, reviews, and recommendations to their website and users calendars. Unique to Attendio are its exclusive VIP "Recommenders" who provide an insider's view on all the "hot" events across all categories at any time. VIP "Recommenders" at launch include Adam Duritz of the band Counting Crows, Stephan Jenkins of the band Third Eye Blind, Doug Hendrickson, NFL football agent with the Octagon Football agency, and Stefanie Coyote, Executive Director of the San Francisco Film Commission. Users can also designate their friends as "Recommenders" to easily share information on interesting and worthwhile events. For example, music lovers can automatically see what concerts their jazz-authority friend recommends.

"We were tired of finding out about events after they had happened," comments Gerardo Capiel, co-founder and CEO of Attendio. "Attendio eliminates the hunt for fun things to do by proactively connecting people to the events they will find most interesting, and conveniently delivering the details to them wherever they are. With Attendio, people will not miss out on fun and interesting ways to spend their free time."

"Attendio has a fresh and compelling approach to helping people choose interesting events, and it's sure to be well received by consumers and event-promoters alike," comments Chris Shipley, the executive producer of DEMO. "Attendio delivers entertainment options based on people's interests directly to their calendars, emails or mobile phones, making last-minute searches and newspaper listings a thing of the past."

Exclusive VIP Recommenders

At launch, Attendio will offer several high-profile V.I.P. event "Recommenders," such as those mentioned above plus: Luke Esterkyn, lead singer of Stroke 9; the principal pianist for the San Francisco Symphony, Robin Sutherland; Pro Bowl Center for the 49ers Jeremy Newberry; Deputy Director, Entertainment Commission for the City of San Francisco Jocelyn Kane; Bay Area Parent Magazine; and Board President of INFORUM, a subsidiary of the San Francisco Commonwealth Club of California David Mckie.

"Attendio just sounded like a cool idea to me," said Adam Duritz, lead singer for the Counting Crows. "After all, there are so many great cultural events taking place all the time in the Bay Area and New York. It seems like I spend half the space on my own blogs recommending theatre and films and bands and events at Cal I think people should go out and see. Attendio seems an obvious way to get the news about that stuff out there so everyone can enjoy them as much as I do."

"Attendio is a great resource for parents looking for fun ways to spend time with their families," said Tom Gonzales, marketing director of Bay Area Parent Magazine.

Attendio specifically delivers information about local events that match an individual's interest. Within a few clicks, Attendio users set up their own personalized profile, and request that events automatically populate their personal calendar through popular programs, including Apple iCal, Microsoft Outlook, Windows Calendar (Vista(TM)), Google Calendar, AirSet, and 30 Boxes. Attendio will also provide members with a weekly event email.

The Attendio service is also partnered with Netvibes, the pioneering Web service with more than 9 million active users that lets people create super-personalized homepages. Users can simply add a personalized calendar widget to their own Netvibes page to stay in the know about relevant local events.

With Attendio, users can see what's going on at anytime, anywhere using their mobile phones as well as their computers. Users can easily trigger Attendio to send text messages about top current events based on their location, recommenders and interests, direct to their mobile phones.

Promoting an Event is Effective

Attendio is a convenient and effective way for event promoters to reach the people who are most interested in their events. Promoters can post an event to Attendio easily and for no charge. These events then get pushed out to the users who have selected the artist, venue or genre of the event as an interest. Performers, promoters or even fans can easily spread the word to friends and personal contact lists through Attendio.
