ASC Highlights How Adhesives Enable Innovation within Automotive Sector



Adhesives Support Automakers’ Efforts to Lightweight Vehicles, Reduce Emissions



Bethesda, MD – The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) launched its second in a series of videos designed to promote and highlight the innovative ways adhesives and sealants are being actively used in the marketplace or being considered for a new application. 



The video series, part of the ASC TV portion of www.adhesives.org and www.sealants.org, is focused on innovation and is designed to foster the use of adhesives and sealants by design engineers who are looking to innovate with advanced materials. 



The next video in ASC’s Innovation Video series is entitled, Adhesives Drive Value for Automakers, and highlights the many practical ways that adhesives are used to lightweight cars, supporting automotive companies’ efforts to meet Federal miles per gallon mandates and lowering emissions.



“This is the second of a series of videos being developed for adhesives.org in collaboration with the Council’s Marketing Committee in order to highlight innovation that is enabled through the use of adhesives or sealants,” notes Matthew E. Croson, President of ASC.  “ASC believes these videos illustrate how adhesives can play a critical role in the innovation process, allowing design engineers to ‘think adhesives’ first when developing new concepts.



In 2015, ASC anticipates developing 3-4 videos as part of a pilot program to test whether this type of digital strategy engages users of www.adhesives.org.  The effort is part of the Council’s Long Range Plan, which places emphasis on the Council expanding its communications services.  The goal is to communicate why innovators – design engineers who manufacture the world’s consumer goods – should consider adhesives and sealants for their project. 



“We anticipate some of the videos to be scholarly and focused on the technical aspects of our industry, while others will be fun and creatively tell the story of what our industry is all about,” adds Croson.  “Videos and new media can tell stories in ways that print and traditional media cannot, and we want the ASC TV Innovation Video series to become not only a fun way to learn about what solutions our industry provides, but also seriously consider how important adhesives and sealants are for innovation.”

ASC TV currently houses 100+ videos on www.adhesives.org and www.sealants.org, with many produced by ASC member companies as part of their integrated communications efforts.  Other videos are produced by educators and illustrate the science behind adhesion and sealant technologies.
