ASC Partners with NAM for June 2015 Congressional Fly-In

Council Sponsors NAM’s Annual Fly-In, Invites Members to Participate

Bethesda, MD –Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) will join the National Association of Manufacturer’s (NAM) Manufacturing Summit as a sponsor, and invites its members to participate in the two-day Washington, DC-based event.  The NAM Fly In provides the opportunity for ASC members to join more than 400 business leaders as they advocate on behalf of pro-manufacturing policies with both Legislative and Administration level officials.  This year’s NAM Manufacturing Summit will be held June 2-3, 2015 at the Mandarin Oriental Washington.

“The NAM Fly-in and ASC’s sponsorship provides members with an enhanced opportunity to guide the manufacturing agenda and communicate the value our industry brings to the United States economy,” notes Matthew E. Croson, President of ASC.  “Member attendees will not only hear firsthand from leaders, we will have the opportunity to communicate our industry’s value to our elected representatives.”

In 2014, NAM Fly-In participants heard from Vice President Joe Biden, Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senator Chris Coons (D-DE).  Attendees also participate in one-on-one and group meetings with elected officials and senior staff.

“This year’s fly-in comes at a particularly opportune time,” said Mark Collatz, ASC’s Director of Regulatory Affairs. “A bipartisan Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) reform bill is about to be introduced in the Senate, and by May the House will likely be discussing their own version of reform.  ASC and its members will have the opportunity to promote this issue directly with Senate and House leadership.”

This is the first official ASC Fly-In, and is part of the Council’s Long Range Plan tied to the Unified Industry Voice strategy.

“This critical strategy calls for ASC to communicate the benefits of the adhesive and sealant industry while we deliver proactive advocacy services to our members,” adds Croson.  “There is no better proactive industry service than being able to speak directly to our elected officials, and this event delivers this for everyone that participates.”

ASC’s sponsorship includes recognition at the Manufacturing Summit reception, a dedicated table at each speaking event at the hotel and a discounted registration rate.

Please note:  ASC members should use the promotional code “ASC” during the registration process. By entering this code, ASC members will receive a $20 discount off of the full Summit fee.

During registration, you will also be able to request the members of Congress with whom you would like to schedule lobbying visits with on Capitol Hill. The NAM will schedule all individual lobbying visits.

“Join ASC and be part of the effort to deliver a unified industry voice during the NAM Fly-In and Manufacturing Summit, sponsored by ASC,” asks Croson.  “It will be time well spent as we work together to support pro-manufacturing issues.”
