ASC announces launch of Product Category Rule for Sealants.
Press Release Summary:
ASC, along with ULe as program operator, has released a Product Category Rule for sealants covering North America. PCRs are documents that define the rules and requirements for Environmental Product Declarations-EPDs (LCAs) of a certain product category. They are vital for the concept of environmental declarations according to ISO 14025 as they enable transparency and comparability between different EPDs (LCAs) based on the same PCR.

ASC PCR Task Group Completes PCR for Sealants
Bethesda, MD – The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) along with ULe as the program operator has released a product category rule for sealants covering North America.
"The publication of the Product Category Rule (PCR) for Sealants demonstrates that ASC is able to mobilize its membership to accomplish a task that is important for the continued use of sealants in sustainable applications within the building and construction industry", says Steve Rosenberg, Task Group Chairman, ASC Board Member and Senior Vice President Risk Quality and Sustainability Management at Sika.
“The process and ever changing market environment with sustainability has taken our task group on a journey that took some time to complete its goal. Our group of members placed the priority on quality vs. speed in developing this PCR for sealants. We can stand behind the decisions that have been made that will allow the supply chain to satisfy the requests of EPDs that may come from the downstream engineering and design community.”
“I would like to thank members of the PCR Task Group and consultants who made this document possible”, says Steve Duren, Senior Director, ASC.
