ASA Education Foundation Trustees Set Direction for Future

Group Reviews 2009 Achievements and Plans 2010 Development

Chicago, IL - November 23, 2009 - The ASA Education Foundation Board of Trustees met in Chicago November 10 and 11, 2009 and reviewed 2009 achievements and created plans for 2010 and beyond.

The ASA Strategic Plan has a goal that addresses the need for an educated industry. It states "ASA members' employees will be the best trained, best educated and most professional in the industry." The Education Foundation was able to support this goal in 2009 with such achievements as: release of version 1.2 of the 3D Residential Schematic; development of Essentials of Profitable Warehouse Operations©; introduction of ASA University and creation of ASAU Online. During this recent meeting, the Trustees sought to find ways to take the Foundation's offering to the next level. Options identified for development in 2010 include:

o Develop colleges under the newly-branded ASA University umbrella, with programs addressing sales & sales management, finance, warehouse operations, leadership & executive management and purchasing & inventory management.

o Develop new curricula to fill the needs of the industry.

o Establish educational career pathways for every position, in a variety of delivery mechanisms focusing on delivery via ASAU Online.

o Provide value to industry members who need assistance in the development of their training program and pathways.

o Present a clear picture of how ASAEF programs and services fit into ASA member companies' goals and objectives.

"The Karl E. Neupert Endowment Fund has allowed the Foundation to develop a treasure chest full of content-rich industry training programs. However, we have been ineffective in communicating the value of training to our members on a large scale basis," shares Frank Finkel of Davis & Warshow, president of the ASA Education Foundation Board of Trustees. "This new working model will help us to more clearly define how our programs fit into a training program and ultimately into profit."

The ASA Education Foundation is a self-sustaining organization that researches the training needs of the plumbing, heating, cooling and industrial & mechanical pipe, valves & fittings industries. The Foundation then develops, promotes and delivers and/or facilitates programs that will satisfy those needs cost-effectively.

Industry-best programming, such as ProductPro product knowledge, Essentials business
basics and now ASAU Online, can be found in ASA University and purchased through the ASAEF Store at www.asa.net.
