American Power Conversion Earns Highest Score in Inaugural CIO Magazine Vendor Report Card Survey

2006 Vendor Report Card Survey Also Reveals that More Than 85 Percent
of CIOs Would Recommend APC to Other IT Executives

WEST KINGSTON, R.I. September 12, 2006 American Power Conversion (Nasdaq: APCC) (APC), a leading global provider of high availability systems for network-critical physical infrastructure (NCPI), today announced that it received the highest score in CIO Magazine's inaugural Vendor Report Card survey. In the 2006 Vendor Report Card survey, conducted by CIO in late spring, more than 1,000 CIO readers ranked APC the number one IT vendor, out of a total of 58 companies, based on a series of performance factors.

The top five vendors ranked in order were APC, Cisco Systems, AMD, Intel, and Adobe. Survey respondents rated APC the top IT vendor based on performance areas such as product quality and reliability; after sale support; and the ability to deliver on promises and deadlines. The survey also noted that more than 85 percent of CIOs were willing to recommend APC to other IT executives, second only to Cisco Systems. In addition to capturing the overall top spot, more respondents said they have purchased or plan to purchase hardware and network equipment from APC than any other vendor.

According to CIO, its brand study helped provide a comparison of the IT community's perception of technology vendors. Survey respondents included IT executives that were considering a vendor, currently evaluating a vendor's offerings, or who purchased products or services from a vendor. Respondents selected vendors from a list of enterprise providers of hardware, software, IT services, printers, network equipment, and telecommunications.

Commenting on APC's stellar performance in the survey, CIO Magazine's Publisher Gary Beach said, CIOs gave APC a strong endorsement in the 2006 CIO Magazine Vendor Report Card survey. In addition to the company's top overall position, respondents also ranked APC number one with the best competitive set of network hardware and software products. I commend APC on its achievements and recognition in the CIO community.
