AMCA Confers Distinguished Service Award to Art Lapointe



ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill., – The Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) International Inc. announced it will confer its 2015 Distinguished Service Award upon Art LaPointe, Group President, Construction Specialties Inc., Cranford, N.J., at its 60th Annual Meeting at Ojai, Calif.



Construction Specialties has been an AMCA member for over 35 years, and LaPointe has been personally involved with AMCA for nearly 20 years. He is a past president of AMCA, with his term running from 2009–2010. LaPointe was a member of the AMCA Board of Directors for almost 10 years, and he held executive positions as secretary, treasurer, vice president, president and chairman of the board. He has held chair or cochair positions on many AMCA committees, including the Air Control Division and the AMCA Bylaws Task Force. LaPointe was also instrumental in the establishment of Asia AMCA as a joint venture.



In 1970, Art LaPointe joined Construction Specialties, completing his college degree in two years at night. In 1972, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, N.J. Previously, he had been pursuing an architecture degree from a small private college in Boston. This degree program was interrupted by the Vietnam War, during which he served his country in the U.S. Air Force.



Art LaPointe and his wife of over 40 years, Kathleen, reside in Allenhurst, N.J. They enjoy the beach, trips to New York City and golfing.
