Altera Nios II Embedded Processor Receives Electronic Engineering & Product World Award


San Jose, Calif., Oct. 24, 2006-Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) announced today that its Nios® II family of embedded processors received the Electronic Engineering & Product World (EEPW) 2006 Editors' Choice Award for China's Best Embedded System Technology. The Nios II family was one of ten winners selected in a three-step voting process that included an online readers' survey and participation by the publication's editorial staff and industry experts.

"This important award emphasizes the broad industry acceptance our Nios II processors have achieved," said Daniel Zhao, Altera's director of sales for China. "The Nios II embedded processor family's performance, flexibility and development tool support has helped make it the most popular configurable soft-core processor technology available today."

Zhao accepted the award from Ms. Cheng Qiuna, EEPW's executive director during a ceremony at the Embedded System Technology Forum in Shenzhen last month. Founded in 1993, EEPW reaches approximately 40,000 electrical engineering, engineering and corporate managers in the People's Republic of China.
