Welex Inc. President Wayne Lewis to Leave Post
BLUE BELL, Pa., April 5, 2011 - Welex Inc.'s Board of Directors has announced that Welex president Wayne Lewis, a 31-year plastics veteran, will leave his post to pursue other endeavors outside of the plastics industry. Lewis has agreed to stay on during a transitional period during which the Board will undertake a search for a successor, according to David Borthwick, chairman of the parent company, W Bar E, Inc.
"We are truly appreciative of Wayne's long-time service with Welex," said Borthwick." He has been instrumental in leading Welex during a pivotal time in its history and consequently we have big shoes to fill."
Lewis, a 31-year veteran of the company, said he originally planned to leave the company four years ago but instead stayed on to oversee key growth projects including Welex's construction of a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Greenville, N.C. and several new product development launches.
"I have nothing but kind words for all the great people I've worked with and their extraordinary efforts that have made Welex the technology leader in sheet extrusion equipment," said Lewis. "Due to their hard work, the company is firmly positioned for strong growth."
Lewis joined Welex in 1980. During his long career, he held several positions including plant manager and general manager and vice president until his appointment as president in 2007.
The board intends to initiate an immediate and comprehensive search for a new President. "The parent company is proud of the Welex history and its strong technical and quality leadership position in plastics machinery," said Borthwick. "We are a recognized leader and we intend to grow the business."
Welex will maintain and strengthen its technical edge in existing machinery by adding complementary new products through in-house development and, where appropriate, through bolt-on acquisitions, said Borthwick. Once appointed, the new President will be charged with leading this mission.
