Upgraded Website Allows Online Part Configuration and Immediate Ordering

The MISUMI website was recently upgraded and now offers the design engineer instant price and availability for the unique components configured using the MISUMI CAD Configurator. The online catalog features more than 200,000 components that can be configured to the exact specifications required by the assembly. As a by-product of the configuration process, the engineer receives the price of the component and the day that the component will ship. The MISUMI business model features no minimum order quantity and no machine set-up or tooling fees. If the assembly requires one precision washer, for example, that washer can be ordered from MISUMI in the quantity of one. To add to this unique service, most MISUMI parts ship in 3 to 6 days, eliminating the requirement for inventory that typically accumulates before the building of a custom machine.

One of the features of the improved website is the capability to track RFQ's and orders online. Custom machines built today typically leverage the design of other machines or previous models. The MISUMI Web Ordering System allows the engineer to
review previous quotations and reorder those components common to more than one machine.

The site also features enhanced search capability. Parts can be sourced using the extensive category search that features more than 37 part categories. Or, the application search option displays parts categorized by the specific part application families, such as rotary motion components, linear motion components, locating components etc.

For users already familiar with MISUMI components or referencing one of the MISUMI printed catalogs, the part number prefix can be entered to streamline the part search. Once the part is identified, all part specifications can be viewed, including RoHS compliance specifications. RoHS-compliant parts are identified at the component level.

The new CAD Configurator allows the user to not only configure custom-machined parts and download those parts as native CAD files into an assembly drawing; the user can also receive price and shipping information instantly. If the price and delivery of the configured part are acceptable, it can be added to the shopping cart for purchase immediately.

Each part is configured to the exact specifications, including custom modifications; wrench flats can be added, length tolerance can be specified, and retaining ring grooves can be specified, as typical examples of available modifications. The MISUMI Web Ordering System takes these modifications into consideration and provides part and shipping information, displayed for each part configured, within minutes.

Customers working with a bill of material in a text file format or a CSV format can upload the parts directly into the MISUMI Web Ordering System. This capability greatly improves the productivity of the procurement department.
