Upgrade to Cobra Judy S-Band Transmitter Completed by Diversified Technologies and Accepted by Usaf
Bedford, MA- Diversified Technologies, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of high voltage, high power equipment turned over an upgrade for the Cobra Judy S-Band precision data collection radar system to the U.S. Air force which is on board the USNS Observation Island and operated by them.
The Cobra Judy S-Band Transmitter Upgrade consisted of new transmitters to drive 16 TWTs which provide RF power for the Cobra Judy S-Band phased array radar system. Featuring eight 150 kW, 45 kV switching high voltage power supplies, solid-state modulators, and a full control and fault monitoring system, this upgrade followed the successful X-Band radar transmitter upgrade completed by Diversified Technologies, Inc. in 2003.
"This upgrade consisted of replacing obsolete vacuum tube technology with all solid-state transmitters for higher reliability and longer life, and was fully integrated with other systems on board the ship," said Michael Kempkes, VP of Marketing at Diversified Technologies, Inc.
