USi Acquires Leading WebSphere Commerce Implementation and Integration Firm

Daniel IT Acquisition Answers Market Demand for End-to-End WebSphere Commerce Solution

ANNAPOLIS, Md., April 17 -- USi (http://www.usi.com/), an AT&T subsidiary and a leading Application Service Provider (ASP), today announced that it has acquired Daniel IT, a leading consultant for world-class IBM WebSphere Commerce Solutions. The combination of the companies creates a comprehensive, end-to-end solution for implementing, integrating, hosting, and managing the WebSphere Commerce application. With news of today's acquisition, USi reinforces its commitment to working with the IBM WebSphere family of products and expands its existing WebSphere Commerce practice.

"This acquisition strengthens USi's WebSphere Commerce capabilities allowing us to offer enterprise clients a robust, single source of delivery for WebSphere Commerce managed and professional services," said Curtis Hampshire, USi's General Manager, eBusiness. "Daniel IT has built a reputation for designing, developing, and providing innovative eBusiness solutions. And like USi, their culture focuses on delivering superb client service and enhanced business value to their clients."

Market demand for WebSphere Commerce is growing among both business-to-business and business-to-consumer focused organizations. Increasingly, enterprise clients recognize the value that WebSphere Commerce offers to help conduct business globally, while integrating with existing business systems and lowering costs. Daniel IT's six-year reputation for implementing and integrating IBM's WebSphere Commerce software complements USi's history of delivering custom developed and managed eCommerce solutions, creating a full-service, complete offering.

"USi and Daniel IT are both respected WebSphere Commerce business partners," said Jim Caldwell, IBM Director of WebSphere Application Infrastructure Product Management. "We are pleased with the commitment the USi team is making to IBM and WebSphere Commerce and are excited at having their new, fully integrated implementation, consulting, application management and hosting practice as a part of our thriving partner ecosystem."

"Joining USi allows us to provide our client base even greater value from their eCommerce initiatives," said Rhett Daniel, president, Daniel IT Services. "Together with USi, we can now offer our clients a broader spectrum of eCommerce services and expert consulting and hosting services, unmatched within our industry, and we've found an organization that values client service the way that we do and is committed to retaining our focus on that."

The acquisition reinforces USi's commitment to the IBM WebSphere family of products and follows on the heels of an expansion in USi's relationship with IBM, having recently been named a Premier Partner, the most distinguished level of partnership within IBM PartnerWorld. Partners must meet specific metrics for both skill development and customer satisfaction to earn the distinction. In addition, USi's Premier Partner status allows the company to call upon IBM's development assistance to create customized solutions for its clients.

Rhett Daniel, president, Daniel IT, will join USi as senior director, WebSphere Commerce, to lead the expanded practice. USi expects to retain Daniel IT's staff and offices in Madison, AL.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
