Press release date: May 13, 2009

o 15W, 30W and 50/60W options
o Choice of 9-36VDC and 18-75VDC wide range inputs
o High power density from industry standard 1in. x 1in., 1in. x 2in. and 1.6in. x 2in. packages
o Fixed output voltages from 3.3VDC to 15VDC

Murata Power Solutions has extended its UEI15, UEI30 and UEI (50/60) Series of DC/DC converters to give designers even greater choice in wide input range board-mounted DC regulated power. The converters offer high efficiency levels coupled with excellent power density in industry-standard open-frame packages and pinouts.

The 15W UEI15 Series is now complete with the addition of 15V output versions. These are available with both 9-36Vin and 18-75Vin inputs and either negative or positive polarity options. The new output voltage versions complement the existing offering of 3.3V, 5.0V and 12V outputs. The UEI15 Series modules deliver their power from approximately one square inch (0.96in. x 1.10 in./ 24.4mm x 27.9mm,) of board area.

Murata Power Solutions has also extended its range of UEI30 Series 30W modules adding 5V and 3.3V output models. They offer either 9-36V or 18-75V input ranges and are available with either negative or positive polarity. The UEI30 delivers 30W of power from a standard 1.0in. x 2in. (25.4mm x 50.8mm) package.

Finally, the UEI Series of 50/60W DC/DC converters is also complete, offering customers fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5V, 12V and 15V. This Series has the same 9-36V and 18-75V input voltage ranges as well as either negative or positive polarity. The UEI Series delivers 50-60W of power from a standard 1.6in. x 2in. (40.6mm x 50.8mm) package.

UEI15, UEI30 and UEI Series DC/DC converters achieve efficiency levels of up to 91% without cooling fans and include full magnetic and optical isolation up to 2250VDC (basic insulation). Operating temperature range is -40ºC to +85ºC (with derating). Specifications include an extensive range of self-protection and shutdown features including: input under-voltage lockout, over-temperature protection, over-current 'hiccup' and auto re-start.

All UEI modules are fully RoHS compliant and meet the safety requirements of key regulatory standards including, UL60950-1, CSA-C22.2 No.234 and EN60950-1 approvals. Typical prices for the UEI15 series, depending on the model, start at $18.03 in OEM quantities, while the UEI30 series start at $26.89 and the UEI series 50-60W starts at $37.64. Lead-times for the entire UEI family range from stock to 12 weeks ARO.
