Trimble Introduces Trimble TX5 3D Laser Scanner and New Version of Trimble RealWorks Version 7.2 Software

New 3D Laser Scanning Solution for Surveyors, Contractors, Engineers and Geospatial Professionals

HANNOVER, Germany - Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced today the new Trimble® TX5 3D laser scanner and SCENE software. The Trimble TX5 is a highly versatile 3D laser scanning solution for surveyors, building construction and civil contractors, performing a variety of applications such as capturing existing condition information, retrofit/revamp projects, architectural redesign, clash inspections and design/as-built comparisons.

The announcement was made today at INTERGEO 2012, the world's largest conference on geodesy, geoinformatics and land management.

Trimble TX5 and SCENE Software

The Trimble TX5 is able to measure at speeds of up to 976,000 points per second, up to a range of 120 meters. The compact and lightweight design provides flexibility and portability around the job site, increasing field productivity. The intuitive and easy-to-use onboard interface allows new users to quickly become proficient and easily incorporate 3D scanning into their business.

"The Trimble TX5 fills an important position within our 3D laser scanning portfolio by providing a versatile solution for a broad range of scanning applications," said David Fitzpatrick, general manager at Trimble. "The new solution extends Trimble's 3D scanning offerings and allows us to provide customers with a choice of marketing leading solutions best suited for their needs."

Data from the Trimble TX5 is processed in the SCENE software suite. Data from SCENE can be seamlessly imported into Trimble RealWorks® software for the creation of additional end deliverables or transferred to 3D design packages for further application.

Trimble RealWorks Version 7.2 Software

Trimble also announced an update to the Trimble RealWorks software, which offers improved data management, streamlined registration tools and support for data from the Trimble TX5 3D laser scanner, via the SCENE software.

Trimble RealWorks v7.2 is now built on full 64 bit architecture to maximize performance of modern PCs. Data management has been improved through the addition of the new Scan Explorer tool, which allows users to view, navigate, manage and extract data from a scan based perspective. Registration tools have been streamlined to improve the workflow to combine multiple scans and deliver spatial data sets.

Availability

The Trimble TX5, SCENE software and new Trimble RealWorks v7.2 software is expected to be available from throughout Trimble's worldwide survey and building construction distribution networks in early November 2012.
