Cognos CEO and Security Entrepreneur Prepare Company for Next Level of Growth
Ottawa, ON; Reston, VA October 17, 2007 -- Third Brigade (www.thirdbrigade.com), a security software company specializing in host intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), today announced the addition of Rob Ashe and Alberto Yépez to its Board of Directors. Mr. Ashe is the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cognos Inc., and Mr. Yépez, Vice President of Identity Management and Security Strategy at Oracle, is a serial entrepreneur and former founder, Chairman, CEO or senior executive at a number of companies including enCommerce, Entrust, Thor Technologies and Apple.
Third Brigade is experiencing strong growth in its business, and increased demand for its host IDS/IPS as evidenced by recent announcements with Trend Micro and NetIQ. Mr. Ashe's recognized leadership and operations experience, and Mr. Yépez' expertise in security and his entrepreneurial acumen, combine to bring unique and valuable perspectives to the Third Brigade Board.

Mr. Ashe has served as CEO of Cognos since 2004 and is responsible for the strategic vision, direction and day-to-day leadership of the company. Prior to this, he held senior positions in finance, operations, research and development, and worldwide services. Cognos is the world leader in business intelligence and performance management solutions, and has over 23,000 customers in more than 135 countries.

Mr. Yépez served as Chairman, President, and CEO of Thor Technologies, leading it from the pre-revenue stage to rapid growth and global expansion, with a customer base that included many of the premier companies in financial services, telecommunications and manufacturing markets.
