What is Electroless Nickel Plating?
Electroless Nickel Plating (EN) is a coating without the use of an external source of electricity. This process causes deposits onto catalytic and non-catalytic substrates. The nickel alloy deposits using a reducing agent (typically sodium hypophosphite) to convert nickel ions to nickel metal. The deposits can be either bright, dull or blackened depending on the customer’s needs. Deposits can also be corrosion or wear resistant depending on a NIP composition. The reaction is continuous as long as parts are immersed. Therefore any thickness can be achieved.
