Press release date: October 6, 2006

6 October 2006, Medina, NY: Dr. Maciej Noras, Research & Development Engineer at TREK, INC., was recently named Co-Chair of the SEMI® International Standards ESD/ESC Task Force - North America, which is part of the SEMI Metrics Global Technical Committee. He will assume the Co-Chair position at the upcoming SEMI North America Standards Autumn Meeting, being held October 15 - 20, 2006 in Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Noras has also been invited to give a technical presentation entitled "Electrostatic Measurement Issues and SEMI E43 " as part of the Electrostatic Issues in Semiconductor Manufacturing Workshop (being held in conjunction with the SEMI North America Standards Meeting) on October 16, 2006 at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront in Portland, Oregon.

The mission of the SEMI ESD/ESC Task Force is to minimize the impact on capital productivity due to the presence of static charge in semiconductor manufacturing environments.

Prior to his appointment as Co-Chair, Dr. Noras was an active member of the ESD/ESC Task Force for several years. He has played a major role in the Task Force, especially regarding the review of the E43 standard that deals with electrostatic measurements. Dr. Noras will continue to bring his extensive electrostatic measurement expertise to the group in order to assure that scientifically sound methods of measurement are evaluated and considered by the Task Force as it pursues its mission.

Dr. Noras is also a member of the Electrostatic Discharge Association (ESDA) and the ESDA's Standardization Committees for Ionization and Packaging. In addition, he is a member of the Electrostatic Society of America (ESA), the Materials Research Society (MRS), the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Industry Applications Society.

Dr. Noras has published more than 30 technical papers, given numerous technical presentations at conferences and other venues around the world, and has held the position of Session Chair for several technical conferences.
