Toyota Material Handling Europe is announced as an official partner of EU-OSHA in 'Working Together for Risk Prevention' campaign.
Brussels - 'Working Together for Risk Prevention' is the new 'Healthy Workplaces' campaign from the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA). Leading material handling equipment and solutions provider, Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) (http://www.toyota-forklifts.eu/en/Pages/Default.aspx), has been chosen as an official partner of this initiative. Over the next two years, TMHE and EU-OSHA will actively promote and engage in occupational risk reduction.
Every 3.5 minutes a person dies in the European Union in a work-related accident or illness. Millions of workers experience preventable job-related physical and psychological traumas. The new European campaign "Working together for risk prevention" aims to stimulate leadership, workforce and representatives to evaluate risks and take responsible actions together to eliminate them.
TMHE and EU-OSHA (http://osha.europa.eu/en) had a successful partnership in 2010-2011, when they co-promoted good practices across Europe on 'Safe Maintenance'. For the 2012-2013 campaign, TMHE focuses on developing research, training, exchange of ideas and expertise in- and outside the organisation. "TMHE's ongoing challenge is to offer the best working conditions to our employees and the best quality products to our customers while respecting the environment and society. To achieve our business goal, we put safety first," says Matthias Fischer, TMHE President.
Strongly committed to the company's "Safer Together" core message, TMHE has a long tradition with safety programs and is regularly giving tailor-made trainings to its 2,500 factory workers, its 4,500 service technicians and other stakeholders. All TMHE factories are OHSAS 18001 certified (http://www.toyota-forklifts.eu/en/News/news/Pages/OHSAS-18001.aspx) and run a "Safety Dojo", an educational area where employees are trained in risk assessment, safe use of protective equipment and handling of chemical products, among others.
EU-OSHA was created by the European Union to lead, centralise and share information to improve working conditions in the EU countries together with selected business partners. "TMHE's collaboration with EU-OSHA and other dedicated companies bears its fruits and has proven so far that we are safer together. EU-OSHA is looking forward to this valuable partnership. Our common goal is to share our initiatives and innovations in term of safety with Europe again," says Matthias Fischer.
