Every Day of Unnecessary Delay in Offshore Permitting Hurts our Economy

Washington, D.C. - National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Senior Vice President for Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse issued the following statement today as the House of Representatives begins to consider H.R. 1231, the Reversing President Obama's Offshore Moratorium Act:

"Manufacturers have suffered from this moratorium because they make and supply the equipment, services, engines, boats and materials such as steel and concrete used by offshore drilling rigs. It is critical that these rigs get back up and running as soon as possible to restore jobs and help our economic recovery.

Manufacturers also need access to reasonably priced energy to be competitive in the global marketplace and preserve high paying jobs here at home. We encourage Congress to act swiftly to end this job-killing moratorium."

-NAM- The National Association of Manufacturers is the largest manufacturing association in the United States, representing manufacturers in every industrial sector and in all 50 states. Manufacturing has a presence in every single congressional district providing good, high-paying jobs.
