Press release date: September 25, 2008

COLUMBIA, Md., September 24, 2008 - Shimadzu Scientific Instruments was chosen by SEDERE for the U.S. sales and distribution of the SEDEX 80LT and SEDEX 85LT evaporative light scattering detectors (ELSD).

SEDERE closed U.S. operations in 2007 and chose Shimadzu for ongoing distribution.

"Shimadzu has sold SEDERE detectors as Shimadzu branded products for the past six years," said Eric Verette, PhD, marketing manager at SEDERE. "We believe the combination of their familiarity with our products and their nationwide sales and support team will bring outstanding results."

The SEDEX 80LT-ELSD combines high sensitivity, reliability and accuracy along with the SEDEX low temperature technology for high performance liquid chromatography. Ideal for routine and research applications, this user-friendly detector features programmable power-down methods and optimized controls. The SEDEX 85LT-ELSD, also known as Shimadzu's ELSD-LTII, includes a newly designed high-performance optical detection system and enhanced digital signal treatment to provide dramatic improvement in sensitivity (< 200 pg).

In addition to sales and service of the above-mentioned instruments, Shimadzu will service the SEDEX 75LT detector.

Typical applications of the 80LT and 85LT ELSD include proteomics, combinatorial chemistry, lipids, surfactants, high-throughput screening and small molecules.
