The ClorTec® on-site sodium hypochlorite generation system has been selected for the Singapore Public Utility Board's new Lower Seletar Water Works facility following the evaluation of alternative treatment methods to gas disinfection.
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. - The ClorTec® on-site sodium hypochlorite generation disinfection system from Severn Trent Services has been selected for use at the Singapore Public Utility Board's (PUB) new Lower Seletar 60-MGD (227-MLD) drinking water treatment plant. The contract for four ClorTec systems, each with a capacity of 1,500 lb/day (31.25 kg/h), was awarded in July 2011 by the project's main contractor, Sembawang Engineers and Constructors Pte Ltd (Sembawang), which is one of the leading engineering and construction companies in Southeast Asia and a subsidiary of global conglomerate Punj Lloyd Group. Construction of the plant is scheduled for completion by 2013.
The ClorTec on-site hypochlorite generation system has been a proven, cost-effective, reliable and safe alternative disinfection treatment method since 1988. The system uses three common consumables in the sodium hypochlorite generating process -- salt, water and electricity - to generate a 0.8% solution.
