Serapid, producers of innovative technology for stage scenery movement, has recently completed work on the renovation of the prestigious Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, Russia.
Serapid caught the world's attention with its stage equipment for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and has produced equipment for scenery movement for hundreds of theater and concert halls across the globe, including the Copenhagen Opera House, the Saint-Nazaire halls of the Middle East and fifty cruise ships. The latest project was the magnificent Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, Russia. The Bolshoi has recently reopened its doors after six years of work and an investment of 21 billion rubles (nearly $700 million).
Among the technical advances that have been used in the renovation was the Serapid LinkLift system. This stage system is comprised of multiple columns of individual components, with elevation platforms that can be smoothly, quickly and noiselessly raised or lowered. The innovative principle of the system is to be able to raise the platform several meters in height from a ground element that fits in a space of less than one meter high.
Serapid LinkLift columns feature square links that work like building blocks to form a tower stack. The shape and locking technique make it capable of extra-high rigidity and strength. Serapid offers six versions which can carry up to 20 tons and lift up to eight meters high.
