Continuation of 2011 Global Sensing Solutions Seminar series helps steel manufacturers understand infrared temperature measurement for steel applications

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 26, 2011 - A technical seminar being held in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Sept. 7 will address temperature's role in optimizing steel production, which is highly dependent on accurate temperature measurement and control. The seminar will provide insight into different types of temperature sensing technologies and how to select the right instrument for specific steel processes.

The 2011 Global Sensing Solutions Seminar: Understanding How Infrared Technology Helps to Optimize Steel Production Processes will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 at the Sheraton Pittsburgh North, at 910 Sheraton Dr., in Mars, Pa. The event for the region's steel manufacturers will be hosted by LumaSense Technologies, Inc., a global manufacturer of light-based temperature and gas-measurement systems used in variety of industrial, energy and clean technology sectors.

The seminar begins at 7:30 a.m. and includes a session on how to use and apply the right infrared technology for various steel production challenges as well as a session on understanding when to use thermal imaging versus spot pyrometers.

"Too often we see steel manufactures who have been told to use one kind of technology or another, when a different or a combination of the latest technologies may be the best and most cost-efficient solution," said LumaSense's Brett Sargent, one of the event's featured speakers and a 20-year industry veteran with experience in sales, engineering and global supply chain management. "This seminar will provide objective information that demystifies new, safe and accurate temperature sensing technologies that help improve process and product quality."
