Press release date: September 11, 2006

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 11 / -- SecuGen is pleased to announce that it will be demonstrating its latest product, the Hamster IV(TM) USB fingerprint reader, designed to comply with Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 201) and National Institute of Standards and Technology SP 800- 76 requirements for fingerprint biometrics, at the 2006 Biometrics Technology Expo in Booth 419 in Baltimore, MD September 19-21, 2006.

"The new Hamster IV is our state-of-the-art, single-finger scanning device that incorporates a 1.3 mega pixel CMOS imager. It produces high quality, high resolution fingerprint images that exceed the image quality and accuracy requirements in SP 800-76," states John Kim, SecuGen's Vice President of Hardware Engineering. "The Hamster IV combines SecuGen's patented SEIR optical technology and accuracy-assurance manufacturing process with the same excellent image quality, ruggedness, and durability that uniquely characterize all of SecuGen's fingerprint products."

Biometrics, and especially fingerprint recognition, is rapidly becoming a required technology in many government initiatives for increased security such as the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program that would establish identity credentials for all Federal employees and contractors for physical and logic access to Federal government locations and systems. NIST developed FIPS 201 as a response to Homeland Security Presidential Directive HSPD-12 to establish interoperability standards for more secure and reliable forms of identification. NIST's SP 800-76 standard further establishes technical specifications for the biometric credentials of the PIV system including the procedures and formats for capturing fingerprint data.

Won Lee, SecuGen President & CEO, adds, "We take great pride in the quality of the fingerprint hardware and software that we design and produce. We will continue to aggressively pursue compliance with FIPS 201, SP 800-76, and MINEX requirements for the PIV program as well as other Federal programs that adopt these new standards. As always, our partners can be assured that we will continue to provide them with the products that they need to succeed in the rapidly growing and evolving fingerprint biometrics marketplace."

With volume shipment starting in the fourth quarter of 2006, the Hamster IV will be the newest addition to SecuGen's growing Hamster product line, which includes the popular Hamster III(TM) and the recently released Hamster Plus(TM).

The 2006 Biometrics Technology Expo is co-located with the 2006 Biometric Consortium Conference, the leading conference focused on biometric technologies for Homeland Security, Identity Management, Border Crossing, Electronic Commerce, and other applications.
