Press release date: June 1, 2009

Schenke Tool Company in Paradise, Pa adds a second abrasive waterjet machine to its operations. The OMAX Model 55100 features precision machining from prototype to production runs in sizes up to 55" x 100". The Model 55100 JetMachining Center cuts complex flat parts out of materials including stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, high-temperature alloys, plastic, glass, and composites directly from a CAD drawing or .DXF file. JetMachining is ideal for short-run part production, just-in-time manufacturing, tooling and prototype part development. No tool changes or complex fixturing required, reducing setup times by at least 50%

The Tilt-A-Jet represents the latest OMAX innovation in the continuing search for more accurate abrasive water jet machining. The Tilt-A-Jet lets the OMAX JetMachining Center achieve virtually zero taper with most materials. The Tilt-A-Jet can position the nozzle at an angle calculated by the software to exactly offset the taper from the abrasivejet. Taper doesn't disappear--it just gets moved to the scrap part of the material, leaving your part with exactly square edges. Reduced taper allows Schenke Tool Company to hold tighter tolerances on parts while lowering the cost. Reduced taper also permits customers to hold waterjet parts in vises or chucks more accurately and consistently.

Abrasivejet Benefits:
o Machines a wide range of materials and thicknesses.
o Does not create heat affected zones or mechanical stresses.
o Rapid set-up, no tool changes are required.
o Minimal fixturing required.
o Leaves behind a satin smooth edge, reducing secondary operations.
o No noxious gases, liquids, or oils are used in (or caused by) the machining process.
o Environmentally "green" system with quiet and clean operation, low electrical and abrasive consumption

Typical Applications:

Job Shops: Produce a wide variety of short-run parts
Wire EDM Shops: Save valuable machine time where ±0.005" or better is acceptable
Laser Shops and Aerospace Industry: Work with materials that are affected by heat (such as titanium, and aluminum) or materials that laser can not cut (such as thicker metal, reflective material or composites)
Prototype and R&D Shops: Work directly from CAD drawings
Maintenance and Repair Shops: Quickly produce one-off parts
Original Equipment Manufacturers: Control Just-in-Time inventory requirements
Metal Fabricators: Offer "clean edge" plate work, such as brackets, machine parts and weldments
Architectural Fabricators: Lets you create complex designs in glass, stone, tile and metal
Industrial Manufacturers: Minimize scrap when working with expensive materials
