Sartomer Opens Plastics Research and Development Laboratory
EXTON, Pa., February 25, 2009 - Global specialty chemicals manufacturer Sartomer Company has opened a plastics laboratory to further develop its global plastics business. The lab, located at the company's Exton, Pa. headquarters, is dedicated to research and development of functional additives for plastic applications. Jeremy Austin, market development engineer, is the commercial contact for the laboratory.
The laboratory allows Sartomer's chemists to perform full pellet-to-pellet conversion and to mold and test thermoplastics up to 400 degrees C. Engineers can perform research with fibers, powders, pellets and liquids. The facility includes a C.W. Brabender® extruder, Morgan-Press molder, Instron® POE2000 impact tester, Instron tensile tester, TA Instruments dynamic mechanical analyzer, TA Instruments differential scanning calorimeter and a TA Instruments rheometer.
Sartomer's Krasol®, Ricon®, Poly bd® and SMA® resins can be used to modify plastics' properties including adhesion, barrier, compatibility, heat resistance, impact strength, flexibility, dielectic, compression set and melt flow index. Sartomer will be showcasing these technologies in Booth #45084 (South Hall) at NPE 2009 June 22-26, 2009 in Chicago.
