Custom fabricated sapphire lenses for mission critical vision systems used in hostile environments where dirt, sand and abrasion create huge problems are available from Meller Optics, Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island.
Meller Sapphire Lenses are custom fabricated in sizes ranging from 1/4" sq. up to 4" dia. with ±0.001" tolerances in plano-convex, -concave, meniscus, and dome configurations. Ideally suited for use as protective lenses for night vision systems, cameras, telescopes, and sensors, sapphire exhibits Moh 9 hardness which is second only to diamond (Moh 10) and is highly resistant to chemicals, abrasion, and extreme temperatures to 1,000°C.
Featuring surface finishes to 40-20 scratch-dig, depending upon size and configuration, Meller Sapphire Lenses can incorporate focal lengths from 3/4" to 1000 mm and greater, depending upon diameter. Designed to OEM specifications, they can be manufactured in varying thicknesses with precisely drilled holes, slots, edge treatments, and A/R coatings.
Meller Sapphire Lenses are priced according to configuration, size, and quantity. Literature and price quotations are available upon request.
